For Authors

Prospective Authors

Central European Universty Press is pleased to evaluate book proposals which suit the publishing program and the list of titles of the Press. Proposals that clearly fall outside our subject areas will not be considered or acknowledged.

Book Proposal Submission Form

If you have a manuscript appropriate to our publishing program that you would like us to consider, we ask that you first submit a Manuscript Information Sheet (MIS). You can either email it to, fax it to +36-1-327-3183 or send it to CEU Press, H-1051 Budapest, Október 6. u. 14, Hungary. The MIS can be downloaded by clicking on the link below

If we decide to pursue consideration of your project, we will request the full manuscript and send it to two outside reviewers. To allow for careful consideration, we give our readers eight to ten weeks, on average, to complete their evaluation. Please bear in mind that the peer review process can be time-consuming, especially for highly specialized topics. We ask for your patience and understanding.

If the Press determines that the project is a strong candidate for publication, we will prepare a proposal for review and approval by the Press's Editorial Committee. The Editorial Committee meets once in threefour months. You will be notified shortly after the meeting regarding the committee's decision. We make every effort to ensure that editorial decisions are made in a timely manner.

Thank you for taking the time to follow our submission and review procedures. Should you require more information, please feel free to contact us.

Contracted Authors

Please make sure that you submit the final version of your manuscript in accordance with CEU Press's Guidelines for Authors provided by your in-house editor.

Our house style is based on the Chicago Manual of Style, a quick and handy citation guide of which is available online here. When in doubt of spelling or grammar, the online version of the Merriam Webster Dictionary can be helpful.
